Inconel® is a nickel-chromium alloy that is classified as a superalloy because of its high-performance qualities like resistance to corrosion at high temperatures. It performs well in both low and high temperature applications where other materials such as steel and aluminum would fail. These special alloys also have high resistance to pitting, and crevice resistance.
High temperature resistance is essential in many applications like Gas turbines, fuel nozzles, heat treating fixtures, and furnace muffles. These materials must stand up to high heat, extreme oxidation potential and cyclic temperature variations.
