Titanium fasteners are lightweight, with high tensile strength and corrosion resistance to sea-water and chemicals. Titanium’s high melting point makes it suitable for use in high-temperature applications, e.g. in the aerospace, medical and marine sectors. Titanium have the unique ability to rapidly regrow their protective passive layer in the presence of oxygen, giving them unparalleled resistance to salt water environments.
Titanium baut, mur are made in many grades. However, the main three are grades 2, 5, and 7. Then how to choose grade?
Titanium Grade-2 is two times stronger than 316 stainless steel, and is the most commonly used grade to manufacture titanium fasteners.
Titanium Grade-5 is two times stronger than grade 2, a true “workhorse” alloy with superior strength-to-weight and corrosion resistance.
Titanium Grade-7 is the most corrosion-resistant titanium alloy having 0.12-0.25% palladium, expensive than other all grades.
